LeJu Bracelets or the fun of discovering a new #LOVE

design, color, silver beads - and a GREAT story!

design, color, silver beads - and a GREAT story!

One of the best things about traveling is meeting SO many new people - and hearing So many new and amazing stories. We don't like to be "sold" a product - we want to be sold on a story!

Handwoven LeJu bracelets from Bogota

So this July when in Berlin at PREMIUM tradeshow we LOVED meeting Juan. Juan is one of the owners at LeJu Designs. Juan and his business partner Lenny were inspired to start designing jewelery during Lennys travels in South America where she spent one year visiting different countries and collecting materials, learning different techniques from artisans she met in different places.  So when it came time to set up LeJu Designs - Lenny and Juan swapped continents -Lenny being the designer and from Holland and Juan managing the brand sales and customer relations and originally from Colombia.

Today each of these beautiful bracelets are handwoven in their workshop in Bogota (Colombia). Both of us have worn these bracelets NON-STOP since getting them in July and we have showered, we swam, cleaned, hiked, ran…… in them without ever taking them off. And they are still as beautiful as they were on the first day!

A new season means new fashions, clean spaces and quick adventures to far away places! Nothing inspires us more than a long weekend in the sunshine -- sand on toes and umbrella on ice!

We bring a few of our favorites to spice up any ordinary outfit!  A good mix jewlery -- necklaces and bracelets, a few belts -- leather (we love our tyoulip sister thin) and canvas (hot pink BANDS of LA) and of course, bags!  You want a bag for travel, around town and the beach!!

Alilamu Messenger Bag is a perfect around town crossbody

Alilamu Small Wash bag makes a great clutch and our Daniel Wellington watch will never let you miss HAPPY HOUR!

The Julie Nolan Zodiac necklace goes everywhere ⭐️

And Urban Smith nameplate necklaces inspire you to live with NO REGRETS and to #beyou

Back in August we visited the little village of Antibes, in the South of France. One of the true highlights (besides the beautiful ocean, the amazing food and the BEST rosé served with ice ) was the little weekend art market in the small, winding cobblestone streets. It is where we met with Charlene and her sweet husband - owners of CHIC&ETHNIC and immediately fell in love with their beautiful, colorful Tibetan Prayer Bracelets.

Talking to Charlene she explained that they drew the inspiration for the bracelets from Tibetan prayer flags.

In Tibetan tradition these flags are hung in prominent places such as high mountain passes, crests of peaks, rooftops, outsides of temples and crossroads.

Their exposure to the four winds allows the messages, wishes or prayers to be dispersed.

They were initially used as talismans to protect the Tibetans. They have since been adopted by Buddhists to carry prayers or messages of hope and peace. The bracelets are in Sanskrit and the message contains the mantra of "Ghachenchemon".

The literal translation is "Supreme Umbrella" which provides the protection of a sacred prayer to all; the mantra invokes the wish that all sentinent beings may have a life full of happiness and rich achievements.

Needless to say we fell in love and had to bring these beauties back to ELLA&RUBI and we are so excited to share them with you!
